The Company has a signed contract and received Notice to Proceed with Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park, the first State Park in California to go 100 % solar off-grid.
Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park is located 26 miles northeast of Nevada City and is approximately a 40-minute drive from the downtown area. With hills of oaks, pines, and cedars, the park is comprised of 3,200 acres with a rich history in hydraulic gold mining operations. Today, the park offers over 20 miles of hiking trails throughout, as well as fishing and camping opportunities, educational camps, and several annual community events.
Previously, the historic town within Malakoff Diggins was powered by a diesel generator. Not only was this costly, but it was also generally perceived as adverse to clean energy efforts. To seek a more green energy alternative in an effort to be 100% self-sustainable, the State Park announced a request for proposals. Through a very thorough vetting and certification process, DC Solar Electric was selected as the off-grid solar electric installation contractor.
